New Album: A Cry For Revolution: Los Ruphay Celebrates 50 Years

Few bands get to celebrate 50 years together. Bolivian folklore band Los Ruphay are one of the lucky ones; a band that continues to live and play folk songs and music from their home country to the world. ‘A Cry For Revolution’ is an anniversary album to celebrate 50 years, which is a mighty accomplishment by any standards.


New Album: Melodic Circles / Iranian Urban Classical Music from Master Musicians Mehdi & Adib Rostami

‘Melodic Circles’ is the new album written and produced by two classically trained Iranian musicians, cousins Mehdi Rostami & Adib Rostami. Both are masters of their instruments: Mehdi plays the Iranian member of the lute family, the setār while Adib accompanies on the tombak goblet drum. The roots of ‘Melodic Circles’ lie in traditional Kurdish music from the Fars Province, widely considered the cultural capital of Iran.

‘Musical Explorers: Waves of Joy’ is the fifth release in the Musical Explorers series from ARC Music, curated by Simon Broughton, Editor-in-Chief of Songlines Magazine. ‘Musical Explorers’ seeks to document the historic works of musicians and ethnomusicologists who brought attention to the burgeoning world music scene in the 20th century.
