2016 is turning out to be an amazing year for sitar player Baluji Shrivastav, first appearing on the Queen’s Honours List 2016 for Services to Music with The Inner Vision Orchestra with an OBE and on the weekend receiving the national GG2 Award for ‘Achievement through Adversity’ 2016 presented by ITV’s Charlene White. Baluji’s wife, musician and singer Linda Shanson was also present at the awards ceremony. This award is given to an individual who has achieved a high level of success despite difficult circumstances.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan was awarded the GG2 Hammer Award for breaking through the proverbial glass ceiling. GG2 Woman of the Year Award was presented to Baroness Patricia Scotland of Asthal; Entrepreneur of the Year went to Frank Leung and Spirit in the Community Award went to Professor Sir Nilesh Samani.
