‘Mariachi’ is the new album from singer Fer González, a collection of classic mariachi songs. ‘Mariachi’ is a Mexican tradition of music performed by a group of strolling musicians, the word ‘mariachi’ is Spanish for ‘street singer’. Mariachi is usually played with a mix of trumpet, guitars and violins as it is on ‘Mariachi’.
Fer González performs the full spectrum of mariachi music, both lively as well as romantic songs, all sung with pride and passion. Songs of love won and lost, patriotic pride, customs at festivals and even those serenaded beneath the balcony of the beloved.
Fer González was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, inheriting the love for music from his parents, especially inspired by his mother, who was blessed with an extraordinary voice and was a singer from her youth; she loved good Mexican music and her voice helped her to become a professional singer.
Fer remembers evenings with his family where it was very common to play the guitar and sing all kinds of Mexican songs: boleros, rancheras, huapangos and more – with the 4-years-old Fer singing along. Fer’s dream is to take Mexican music all over the world and he is always proud to wear the charro suit, wherever his tours may take him. ‘Mariachi’ will be released internationally through ARC Music on the 25th May, 2018.
