1st single from Minyeshu's news album ‘Daa Dee’ to be released internationally through ARC Music on 26 October, 2018.
‘Aynocheh’ is the first single from Minyeshu’s forthcoming album ‘Daa Dee' and is Ethiopian for 'Your Eyes'.
‘Daa Dee’ is a self-exploring album deeply connected to her past journey and simultaneously linked with her newfound path in life. In Ethiopia ‘Daa Dee’ is the sound that a mother makes to help their child with their first steps. It is the first rhythm or the first groove that the baby hears! The music on the album is rooted in Ethiopian tradition a nod to her culture, her world and upbringing; it is who she is and it has made her who she is today.
Minyeshu is one of The Netherlands’ most well-loved world musicians, sharing studio sessions and festival stages with the likes of Youssou N’Dour, Baaba Maal, Salif Keita and Angélique Kidjo. Minyeshu has made many special performances in the Netherlands and has toured internationally in Germany, Senegal, Algeria and many other countries. Since embarking on her own career as a singer/songwriter in The Netherlands, Minyeshu has built up an impressive following in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Her album ‘Dire Dawa’ placed #9 in the World Music Charts Europe (2008/Rounder Europe).
The international influences and styles expressed via the western instruments reflect her new outlook on life - both come hand in hand, a fitting combination of life journeys and musical exploration.
Minyeshu’s fourth album is a personal symbolic expression of her breaking down the walls of her own Harar (a walled Ethiopian city) and discovering a new world. ‘Aynocheh’ is about finding love, the search for one’s soulmate and best friend,
‘Dreamed and thought of you only,
Now that I found you,
Your love flowed in my home
My body cherished this harmony,
My heart surrendered to you deeply’
